#BEIJING2015: Jamaica’s medal hunt continues
KINGSTON, Jamaica – With five opportunities left to medal at the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, Jamaica’s 4x100m men and women hit the track of the Bird’s Nest National Stadium on the penultimate day of competitions.
Jamaica and the USA are favoured to medal in both events today, but it all depends on getting the baton around safely.
Elaine Thompson and Veronica Campbell-Brown have joined Natasha Morrison and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the final for Jamaica, and will be running out of lane six. Campbell-Brown is set to start the one-lap race before handing the baton to Natasha Morrison who will then pass it to Elaine Thompson with Fraser-Pryce bringing it home.
The gun for the women’s 4x100m goes off at 7:45 am after Fedrick Dacres attempts to gain a medal for Jamaica in the discus throw, which gets under way at 6:50 am.
Jamaica will close out their medal hunt today with the men’s 4x100m relay, which gets under way at 8:10 am.
Nesta Carter will lead off to Asafa Powell to Nickel Ashmeade with Usain Bolt on the anchor leg.
