#BEIJING2015: No women’s 400mH medal for Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Kaliese Spencer was favoured to medal in the women’s 400-metre hurdles due to her consistent performance throughout the rounds at the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, but this did not materialise.
It would have been her first medal at the World Championships.
However, the defending Diamond League champion faded into eighth place a short while ago, clocking 55.47 seconds.
Her compatriot Janieve Russell finished fifth with a personal best run of 54.64 seconds.
The event was won by defending champion Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic in a time of 53.30 seconds. Second place went to American Shamier Little (53.94s) and Cassandra Tate of the USA took the bronze medal in a time of 54.02 seconds.
