#BEIJING2015: McPherson fastest qualifier into Women’s 400m semis
KINGSTON, Jamaica – All four Jamaicans advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 400 metres a short while ago at the IAAF World Championships now under way in Beijing, China.
Stephenie Ann McPherson won her heat and is the quickest qualifier going into the semi-finals after her 50.34-second run.
Christine Day, the first Jamaican on the track in the 400 metres heats, also won her race. She finished in a time of 50.58 seconds.
Both Shericka Jackson and Novlene Williams-Mills finished second in their heats to automatically qualify for the semi-finals. Jackson ran a time of 50.41s will Williams -Mills clocked 51.07s.
Williams-Mills was beaten by Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas who clocked 50.53 seconds.
Meanwhile, Allyson Felix of the USA also advanced to the semi-finals after winning her heat in a time of 50.60s.
