Shauna Chin on the mend
SHAUNA Chin, manager and fiancée of dancehall artiste Gully Bop, is recuperating at her Kingston home after being involved in a motor vehicle accident in Duncans, Trelawny, on Saturday evening.
According to Chin, although she is still in pain, she is counting her blessings.
“All I remember was that I was checking with everyone to see if they were OK and then I lost consciousness. Strange thing is everyone walked away with minor scrapes and I was the only one wearing a seat belt and I got injured the worst. I am really grateful to be alive,” she said.
The 25-year-old said she was heading to Kingston from Montego Bay after picking up family members when the accident occurred.
“I was driving really slowly but as I approached a corner in Duncans, I am not sure what happened. But I just lost control of the vehicle. Even the brakes failed me,” she said. Chin said she woke up in a nearby hospital with a fractured neck, a gash in her head, a chipped elbow bone, and other cuts and bruises.
“While I was at the hospital, there was an altercation as persons were fighting over me. I couldn’t take the pressure, so I took off the neck brace after getting my head sewed up, checked myself out, and went to a private doctor,” she said.
For the manager, it is all about getting back in shape and then back to work. Chin said that following Gully Bop’s separation from Heavy D’s Promotions, she has taken on the role of booking agent.
“I am now doing everything for him. There is a lady named Sue Peart in New York that does booking for him also, but I am crammed with the workload. I donât mind though, as I want to see the best for him,” she said.
The Internet sensation-cum-dancehall artiste, Gully Bop, flew into the island on Tuesday to check on his fiancée. He returned to the United States yesterday as he is slated to perform in Bridgeport, Connecticut, tomorrow, August 14. This will be followed by Bronx, New York, and Baltimore later this month. Bermuda and Philadelphia gigs will follow in September.
