Lodge Elgin stages successful Dawkins Memorial Golf Tourney
The Lodge Elgin No 1562 successfully staged the second George Dawkins Memorial Golf Tournament at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Club in Rose Hall, Montego Bay.
The event saw participation from local and overseas golfers and included enthusiasts and professionals competing for a range of trophies, weekend stays and day passes at various prestigious north coast hotels, smartphones, gift baskets and bragging rights.
Master of the Lodge Noel Whyte said he was “pleased that the event, which started small last year at the Half Moon Golf Club under the direction of former Master Manu Chadiramani and Chairman Dr Richard Whitelocke, has grown tremendously. It is expected to become a calendar event on Montego Bay’s slate of activities. We could not, however, have done it without the support of our returning and new sponsors which we wish to thank whole-heartedly”.
Among the sponsors were Johnnie Walker, Half Moon Hotel, Progressive Foods, Biggs, Billy Craig Insurance Brokers Ltd, Stewart Motors BMW, Sagicor Bank, Guardian Group, Noel Whyte & Associates, LIME, CMK Bakery, Indies Pharma, Tryall Golf and Country Club, Rainforest, Bijoux, Taj Mahal and Casa Manolo.
Among the winners in the amateur category were Donald Anderson and Maurine Blake in first place. In second-place position were Manu Chandiraman and Sean Morris and third place went to Bryan Bailey and Johanna Campbell. Al Robinson was at the “top of the game” in the professional category, while the George Dawkins Memorial trophy, which goes to the highest-placed Lodge member pair, went to Manu Chandiramani and Sean Morris.
All proceeds from this event go to Lodge Elgin’s community outreach projects which are ongoing in the community of St James.
