Deiwght Peters Show returns
THE Dweight Peters Show made its return to local television last night after its popularity earned it a second season.
“I never doubted the quality of our product, but I was surprised that its popularity grew outside its original target market,” Peters, the show’s conceptualiser, told the Jamaica Observer.
The elements that he thought would have only appealed to the young and hip crowd made the show a wider hit bringing families to their television sets.
“Social media was ablaze with positive feedback and glowing commentary, clamouring for the show’s return,” he said.
For its short six-episode run, Peters promises more fun like never before. The show will be bolstered by the addition of two producers, Sharon Schroeter of Rising Star’s Fame and radio personality Scott Wilson.
According to Peters, there will be more blockbuster interviews and audience games sponsored by the likes of Jamaica National and Acropolis. Jamaica Broilers is on board with Chef Out that sees Jamaica’s top chefs preparing exotic and tantalising food. Viewers can look forward to Peter’s personal side through the Ask DP segment, as the host will have to field questions from the studio audience.
Given Peters’ busy schedule as CEO of Saint International, the television series has found its place in the heart of viewers, and has provided him several memorable highlights.
“Our Mother’s Day programme and the Marcia Griffiths tribute show stand out for me,” he said.
The host is hoping to transcended Jamaica’s borders.
“There is no question the Diaspora is interested. Whenever I travel, they seem to be aware of various pieces of the show,” he added.
He said he hopes to transfer this demand into a broadcast deal through various Diaspora-focused cable channels at some point in the future.
