BOOM dance-off to excite
COME tomorrow, the National Stadium’s basketball court is expected to come alive with the staging of BOOM Badda Dan: The Ultimate Dancehall Dance Crew Clash.
The organisers of the event are promising the ‘baddest dance crew clash’ ever seen locally.
“Plans have been going very well. The anticipation has been building and the dancers are excited, especially, the crews from Europe and Asia. They all want to show how well they have grasped the Jamaican culture and dancing, and everybody wants the US$10,000 prize money,” said Chieftin Campbell, spokesman for the local energy drink BOOM.
He noted that the allotted pre-sale tickets are finished so patrons who haven’t got their tickets yet will have to get it at the gate for $500.
Campbell said that this event is BOOM’s way of keeping dancehall culture alive.
“We’ve done the sound clash and we’re continuing with the dance crew clash because this is our way of contributing to the preservation of the dance hall culture. As part of corporate Jamaica, we have to do our part to ensure that this culture which is indigenous to Jamaica is firmly placed and preserved. We also want to put our dancers in that spotlight so they know that we see them and appreciate what they are doing for Jamaica. We love that the foreigners have fallen in love with our culture so much so that they want to be a part of it as well.”
Campbell is further promising high-energy entertainment with performances by Elephant Man, Chi Ching Ching and Aidonia.
