How To…
Do you have a ton of old shirts? Shirts that you have outgrown? Shirts that you should have left in the early 2000’s? Shirts that aren’t acceptable to donate. Well cut them up!
Hi guys, this week we will be learning how to make headbands out of old shirts. It’s really easy to do I promise and I had tons of fun making them (I have way too many now). This week we will be doing the braided style.Step 1: Cut off the bottom piece of the shirt. Save it for later.Step 2: Cut three strips of the shirt like shown in the picture. It doesn’t matter how thick or thin you want to cut it, it’s totally up to you.Step 3: Stretch them as far as you can but take care not to rip them.Step 4: Cut off a part from the bottom piece. It should be big enough for you to sew the top part of the strips to it. Only sew the top part of the strip and leave a little space for the hair tie.Step 5: The strips should be firmly sewed on the piece from step 1 at this point. Braid the strips like how you would braid hair as seen in the picture.
Things you need: An old shirt made of a ‘stretch’ material (like a T-shirt) , needle and thread or a sewing machine, hair tie, ruler, and scissors.
Step 6: When you are satisfied that the headband will fit your head just right leave a couple centimeters unbraided. Take another piece from step one and repeat what you did in step 4. Wrap the remaining portion around the hair tie…Tip: If you don’t have a hair tie or you don’t want to use what you have you can simply connect both ends of the headband together with glue or sew them together.Step 7: Rock your headband!
Try doing this with different colours to match all your outfits. Now remember guys, the summer is only as boring or as exciting as you make it! So get busy!
