The ‘Buzz’ is back
THE highly fancied bay colt Buzz Nightmare signalled his return from a four-month break by crushing his rivals by over 10 lengths in a Restricted Allowance non winners of two event.
After finishing fifth by nine lengths as the 1-2 favourite to Siempre Bueno in the Prince Consort Stakes over 1,400 metres on March 14, the Philip Feanny-trained Buzz Nightmare was rested by his trainer and did not participate in any of the Classic races he could compete in. However, the offspring of Into Mischief – Queen of Battle who was bred in utero returned on Saturday to register a very comfortable victory.
“He (Buzz Nightmare) is a very nice, talented horse. He felt good, 100 per cent and I believe he is back,” said jockey Paul Francis.
In typical manner, the Two Penyu-owned Buzz Nightmare was sent to the lead by Francis in the 1,100-metre event, and although challenged for a while by Action Man approaching the final bend, moved away nicely turning for home to win impressively over Action Man and Trojan. It was Buzz Nightmare’s second victory from three starts to date. He covered 1,100 metres in 1:06:2 minutes.
“The race wasn’t difficult to ride; it was just a stroll in the park for the ‘Buzz’. When I asked him to go turning for home, he just responded beautifully and romped home easily,” Francis told the Complete Racing Guide.
