‘Callaloo’ is now steaming
JOCKEY Wesley ‘Callaloo’ Henry was winless on his return to regular race riding on July 11. He rectified that situation on Saturday with a double, Speedy Process and Uncle Taf in typical front-running style.
“Well, first of all I am always happy to win races. In both races, I asked my horses to go in front, then I regulated the pace after which I asked them for everything up the lane and they delivered the goods,” Henry told the Complete Racing Guide.
Uncle Taf defeated a good field in Overnight Allowance company to signal his return to form after coming close several times. Trained by Solomon Sharpe, the five-year-old chestnut gelding by Traditional – Zaza was one-and-a-half lengths in front of Prince Andrew and Royal Vibes in 1:25:4 minutes. For Uncle Taf it was his first win from seven starts this year.
On the Donovan Plummer-trained Speedy Process (Legal Process – Congrats), Henry did what he likes best by putting the four-year-old chestnut filly in front, and although Speedy Process faltered a bit in the last half-a-furlong of the seven-furlong event , she still won handily by just over a length.
“Like I said before, I am here to test the talent of the jockeys currently riding at Caymanas and now that I am settled, the battle is on,” Henry declared.
