Facey ends 30th in PanAm golf
IAN Facey completed his historic participation in the golf tournament at the Pan-American Games at the Angus Glen Golf Club in Ontario, Canada, yesterday, finishing 30th out of 32 players who competed on a slow day of competition for Jamaicans.
The 21-year-old Facey had a four round total of 26 over par 314 after a nine over 81 on yesterday’s final round which included two birdies but eight bogies and a triple bogie that came on the fifth hole.
He had shot a five over 77 on Thursday’s opening day of golf; eight over 80 on Friday and four over 76 on Saturday, his best day.
Meanwhile, Cyriesse Hall was beaten by Candelaria Martes of the Dominican Republic 12-2 in the 149kilo women’s tae kwon do first round fight.
Hall and Olympian Kenneth Edwards, who will be in action on Wednesday in the men’s over 80kilo weight class, are the two athletes representing Jamaica in tae kwon do.
Jamaica’s track and field athletics quest will start tomorrow when 14 athletes will bow into action at the Pan-American Stadium.
There will be competition in the men’s and women’s 100m first round, men’s long jump, women’s 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, men’s shot put, women’s 800m, and hammer throw events.
