4 wanted men arrested in all-island police operation
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police have reported that four wanted men were arrested and two illegal firearms were seized during an all-island operation Thursday.
Heading the list of wanted men who have been captured is Davian Jarrett, who was wanted in Trelawny for illegal possession of firearm.
In Clarendon, Kemar Smith and Oneil Bartley were captured. Smith had absconded bail while Bartley had a warrant issued against him in relation to a case stemming from breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
The trend of success continued in Manchester when police there arrested Jason Richards, for whom a warrant had also been issued.
The police said a homemade handgun and a .45 Pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition were seized in St Elizabeth and Effortville, Clarendon, respectively. Two people were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Meanwhile, five persons were arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Copyright Act, while a 37-year-old man is facing charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act after he failed to properly account for J$ 500,000 that was allegedly found in his possession.
Two people were also arrested in Manchester for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs and Offensive Weapon (Prohibition) Act.
