Fraser-Pryce confirmed for Stockholm Diamond League
KINGSTON, Jamaica – It has been confirmed that sprint star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will compete in Stockholm, Sweden at the IAAF Diamond League meeting later this month.
The World and Olympic 100m champion has recorded three of the five fastest times in the world over the distance this year, setting a world-leading time on each occasion, according to the IAAF.
Fraser-Pryce won in 10.81 sec at the Eugene IAAF Diamond League meeting, then improved to 10.79 sec to win the Jamaican title before clocking 10.74 sec to win at the Diamond League meeting in Paris earlier this month.
Irina Privalova’s stadium and meeting record of 10.90 could be in real danger when Fraser-Pryce goes to her blocks on July 30, the federation said.
“Shelly-Ann leads the Diamond Race and I’m sure she’ll relish the chance to extend that lead with a victory at Stockholm Bauhaus Athletics,” said meeting director Anders Tallgren.
“The stadium record of 10.90 from 1994 is attainable and if she gets it she will receive a diamond,” Tallgren added.
