CONCACAF Gold Cup: Unimpressive Costa Rica join Jamaica into next round
TORONTO, Canada – An uninspired Costa Rica, the favourites coming into the CONCACAF Gold Cup, barely scraped through to the knockout round of the sub-continental championship when they played to a dull 0-0 draw with Canada at the BMO Field here on Tuesday night to bring the curtains down on Group B.
Costa Rica, the highest ranked team in the group, will now face the runners-up from Group C, which will either be Trinidad and Tobago or Mexico at Easter Rutherford in New Jersey on Sunday.
Group C will be settled on Wednesday.
Jamaica, who face Caribbean neighbours Haiti in another quarter-final pairing at the M&T Stadium in Baltimore on Saturday, topped the zone on seven points after clipping El Salvador 1-0 in the earlier contest of the double-header on Tuesday.
