CONCACAF Gold Cup: Boyz clip El Salvador to win group, set ‘quarters’ date with Haiti
TORONTO, Canada – Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz clipped El Salvador 1-0 in a bruising contest to top Group B of the CONCACAF Gold Cup at the BMO Field here Tuesday.
Reading FC Garath McCleary scored in the 71st minute, steering in a spill by El Salvador goalkeeper Derby Carrillo after Jobi McAnuff had delivered the initial shot.
Jamaica have now set a date with Caribbean rivals Haiti in a quarter-final showdown slated for Baltimore on Saturday.
Costa Rica and Canada meet to decide the other Group B qualifier to the knockout stage of the tournament.
