Frolic in the Grove
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — A fundraiser for the renovation and expansion of the Accident and Emergency Department at Percy Junor Hospital was among the activities held to commemorate the hospital’s 70th anniversary being observed this year.
The event, dubbed ‘Frolic in the Grove’, was held at home of former Southern Regional Health Authority board chair Faye Bell and her husband Maxie.
Guests were treated to a diverse meal, soothing music and had the option of purchasing art, pottery and orchids.
Dr Carlos Wilson, senior medical officer, told patrons that the shared motive of the anniversary committee is to make Percy Junor Hospital a better place.
The hospital was built in 1945 with donations from Percival Sigismund Junor, a local businessman, justice of the peace and philanthropist in whose memory the facility is named.
Governor General Sir Patrick Allen lauded the administrators and others associated with the hospital for ensuring excellent service over the years.
“I want to take this opportunity to… extend our congratulations to the Percy Junor Hospital for achieving 70 years of operations and operations with distinction…,” he said.
Other celebratory events included a church service, an open day and blood drive and a medical symposium.
