CONCACAF Gold Cup: Boyz taking no chances against El Salvador, says Coley
TORONTO, Canada – Jamaica assistant coach Miguel Coley says the 1-1 result between Costa Rica and El Salvador on Saturday night in Texas puts a bit of pressure on the Reggae Boyz as they look to finish strongly in Group B of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
“The result between Costa Rica and El Salvador keeps us on our toes and we can’t leave anything for chance, and the game against El Salvador we just have to keep working hard,” he said.
The upbeat Boyz arrived in Toronto on Sunday for their crucial Group B CONCACAF Gold Cup match against El Salvador at the MBO Field on Tuesday, lifted, no doubt, by their 1-0 win over Canada in Houston, Texas, on Saturday.
Kick-off time for the Jamaica vs El Salvador game is at 6:00 pm (5:00 pm Jamaica time).
That match will precede a clash between Costa Rica and hosts Canada at 8:30 pm (7:30 pm Jamaica time).
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, on four points from two games and on top of the group, will be seeking to top the zone with a win over El Salvador. The Boyz have virtually booked their spot to the quarter-final round after Saturday night’s win.
Costa Rica go into Tuesday’s final group match with two points from as many games, the same as El Salvador. Both Central American teams will be fighting to possibly join Jamaica in the next stage. Canada are at the bottom of the standings on a solitary point.
The Boyz will have a training session at the Kia Field Three here at 11:00 am on Monday.
