“It is always best to have choices. Choose to take the train even though you have a Benz in the garage,” is one of the many principles that Simier Lansend (SL) lives by on a daily basis.
Twenty-four-year-old Simier is a co-founder and chief operating officer of EducaTours JA. He graduated from the University of the West Indies Mona, last year, with a bachelor of science degree in entrepreneurship and has been operating this business since January of this year. Recently, teenBOSS (TB) held a conversation with Lansend in order to further understand his pursuits.TB: What inspired you to start EducaTours JA? After hosting parties (AmbroZia) for three years, I had decided to create an organisation that would make a difference. One that would shift the culture and create stability. There was a demand for premium tours in Jamaica by locals, including students. Jamaica is rich in history. Many people aren’t aware of the interesting sites that are available.TB: What has been your most fulfilling experience thus far in your career as a business owner? Executing our pilot and seeing the reviews and feedback received from the students and staff at the schools.TB: What/ Who has been your greatest motivation thus far to help you along your journey? My mother. She has been a driving force because of her dedication towards my success. I can’t let her down. Then there is R. Danny Williams who is an aggressive and successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and visionary. I try to follow in his light.

TB: What are your goals, 10 years from now? I am working towards having EducaTours JA being the premier educational tour company in the Caribbean. I also would like to have my name engraved in a building at my former high school, the Jamaica College.
