Reggae Girlz number eight in CONCACAF
THE Reggae Girlz remain ranked at 74th, their fourth highest placement in the latest FIFA rankings.
The team maintained their March 2015 spot – a two-place fall from their 2014 rank, which was a 46-place jump from 118 in the previous year.
The Girlz, who fell short of qualifying for the recently concluded Women’s World Cup, have held an average ranking of 92 since the inception of the system. Their worst rank was 136 in 2011 and their highest was 71 in 2008.
They are ranked eighth in CONCACAF behind world number one and World Cup champions the United States. Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti and Panama complete the other six places in the top eight. Guatemala and the Dominican Republic round out the top 10.
Following the Women’s World Cup, the top 10 teams are USA, Germany, France, Japan, England, Brazil, Sweden, Korea DPR, Australia, and Norway. Tournament hosts Canada fell three spots to end up just outside the top 10 – making way for Norway.
