Let’s Talk about it
Cue the excitment. In-between screenings of a slate of 43 short and feature films, sporting biopics and documentaries, the Jamaica Film Festival was also rich with opportunities for self-development for creatives in the local film industry thanks to 14 workshops hosted at the JAMPRO and Courtleigh Auditoriums, and the Creative Production and Training Centre over the course of the festival’s five days. Talking topics at the sessions ranged from script writing for film and television, and the key to financing your film project, to what’s unique about the Caribbean’s film industry and pitching and making the right move at the right time, and participants eagerly devoured the knowledge gleaned. SO sat in on last Tuesday’s directors and writers intensive workshop hosted by 21st Century Fox Executive Vice-President, Audience Strategy, Nicole Bernard and her creative manager colleague Gina Reyes.
