CPL: Tallawahs suffer 17-run defeat to Tridents
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Tallawahs suffered their first home defeat in the Hero Caribbean Premier League when they went down by 17 runs to the Barbados Tridents here at Sabina Park on Saturday.
After losing captain Christopher Gayle early in the innings for 14
runs, the Tallawahs middle order once again failed to come to the fore and eventually ended on 129-7 off their 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Chadwick Walton was the only player to offer any resistance with a knock of 46, including two fours and two sixes.
Nkrumah Bonner coming back into the side was the next best scorer with an unbeaten 31.
Left-arm spinner Robin Peterson led the Tridents bowling with 3-13,
while Jason Holder took 2-36.
Earlier, after a lengthy rain delay, the Tridents posted 146-7 from 20
overs. Captain Kieron Pollard led from the front with an unbeaten
knock of 59, including two sixes and five fours. Dwayne Smith was the next best scorer with 27.
The Tallawahs bowling attack was led by Andre Russell who took 2-18 and Rusty Theron with 2-39 runs.
The Tallawahs will contest their final home game against Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday.
