Health Ministry takes steps to ensure water supply at health facilities
IN light of the present drought and water restrictions, Minister of Health Dr Fenton Ferguson says the regions have been directed to put necessary measures in place to ensure that adequate water supply is available at all health facilities, including making arrangements for the trucking of water.
“Water conservation methods should now be in place at all health facilities. The regions have been asked to ensure that they are closely monitoring their water storage levels and that tanks are checked for leaks and filled regularly,” Dr Ferguson said.
He added that where possible, storage capacity will be increased at some facilities.
“We will put additional storage in place where possible, but will continue to monitor the present situation and have contingency plans ready where necessary,” Dr Ferguson said.
The health minister is also appealing to community members not to remove water from storage tanks at their health centres.
