Fashion Profile
In the world of teenAGEers and young adults, its always about what’s trending, especially in regards to fashion. We all desire to be in the latest of everything, and sometimes that special shoe or skirt that’s trending is way out of our economic reach. Even if we empty our piggy banks and ask whether mom or dad for a little “change” it’s still not enough.
Admittedly, those occurrences may happen too often for our comfort, but this is where DIM Factory steps in and fills the void. DIM is a small family-owned business that caters to the fashion needs of everyone, and also quenches our artistic appetite. For those of you who consider yourselves ‘misfits’ don’t worry; they’ve got you too.
Headed by artistic director, Tara Osborne the team comprises of Astor Osborne, Jason Jones, Marlon Osborne and Havrell Wynter. Their artistic creations provide everyone with fashionable and cost-effective clothes, accessories and art. DIM Factory offers a wide array of products; headbands, upper arm bracelets, bathing suits, purses, carnival costumes, paintings, decorations and they also do customized products and a whole lot more. Awesome, right? So of course, teenAGE had to have a little chat with the artistic masterminds of DIM Factory.
The name DIM Factory is quite unique, so we had to ask the meaning of it and the influence. “You know you have DIY, do it yourself. So basically DIM is, do it myself” says the co-founder and artistic director of DIM, Tara Osborne.
Osborne went on to tell us about her “day one” clientele, after being asked about the confidence they had in their products being sold. This, when considering that some Jamaicans, teens in particular, sometimes have little or no appreciation for art. She explained that before the launch of DIM Factory, she was an independent creator who already had customers. Therefore, at the commencement of the official business, she had the support of those same customers who helped spread the word.
Just before our chat ended; the artists and financial advisor Valerie Osborne had a bit of advice for all teen entrepreneurs. “Follow your passion, always do that and research. Do your research about the area you want to go in and also what financial options you have available.”
Osborne continued, “You may also get a regular job in the field you would like to go in; then launch your business from there. Whether you want to borrow from Mommy or Daddy or another family member, sometimes that way can be easier”.
All the products that are offered by DIM are affordable, so no worries about emptying your bank account. You may contact them online at thedimfactory@gmail.com or tiraetara.wix.com/dimfactory.
