Three western-based schools return to daCosta Cup
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — THREE western-based schools – Cambridge High, Hopewell High and Maud McLeod High – will return to the ISSA daCosta Cup schoolboys’ football competition when the 2015 season begins on September 12.
The trio have been away for periods ranging from one to three seasons and will be among 81 schools that are expected to seek a place in the December 3 final.
Twenty-six schools from the county of Cornwall are down to take part in the competition, it was announced at the annual daCosta Cup planning meeting held at Manchester High in Mandeville last week Wednesday.
Maud McLeod in Westmoreland returns after a three-year absence and will play in Zone D; Hopewell High from Hanover missed the last two years, and will play in B, while the St James-based Cambridge High who were away only last year will play in Zone C.
Meanwhile, the make-up of the western zones will be:
Zone A — Anchovy High, Cornwall College, Green Pond High, Irwin High and St James High.
Zone B — Frome Tech, Green Island High, Hopewell High, Merlene Ottey High and Rusea’s High.
Zone C — Herbert Morrison Technical, Muschett High, Spot Valley High and William Knibb Memorial.
Zone D — Godfrey Stewart High, Grange Hill High, Mannings School, Petersfield High and Maud McLeod High.
Zone E — BB Coke High, Lacovia High, Maggotty High, Munro College, Newell High and STETHS.
