HBO hosts premiere at Pegasus
SEVERAL selected members of the media were special guests at an HBO Latin America premiere held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, yesterday.
“We’re in Jamaica to show the first episode of two of HBO’s new original series, The Brink and Ballers.
They both premiere tomorrow in the Caribbean, simultaneously with the US after the season two’s premiere of True Detective,” said Melody Regalado, HBO Latin America’s public relations and corporate affairs manager.
Regalado gave the Jamaica Observer a brief overview of the new series.
“Ballers is a sports comedy starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, while The Brink is a dark political comedy starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins,” said the PR manager.
Johnson plays Spencer Strasmore, a retired football superstar, who is trying to find a foothold as a financial manager to current players.
Robbins is cast in the role of Walter Larson, US Secretary of State, in The Brink. The comedy looks at geopolitical crisis and its effects.
True Detective returns for its second season with Colin Farrell reprising the role of compromised cop Ray Velcoro.
“HBO has something for everyone, and there’s a stellar line-up this summer between Sunday’s original series debuts and Saturday’s exclusive movie premieres,” Regalado added.
HBO is an American premium cable and satellite television network owned by Home Box Office Inc, an operating subsidiary of Time Warner.
