Rash-On Fashion
Caribbean Fashion Week is long gone, but all the beautiful images are still etched in our minds. These include the food, drink, music and definitely ‘total fashion’. After 35 years of Pulse excellence, and 15 CFW’s, the Pulse Family continues to amaze us all. Kudos to Kingsley Cooper, Safia Cooper, Romae Gordon and the rest of their team for another successful showing.
Summer officially begins in less than 24 hours, and as with every summer past, finding clothes to wear that are both trendy and comfortable is quite a hassle. This year, however, we young fashionistas have little to fear. This is because CFW showcased designers from all across the world, and these designs depicted sand, sun and everything summer. Below are a few selections that had a lasting effect; here is your weekly dose of Rash-On Fashion:
* The first designs that showcased all things summer were those of Beach Goddess. These were swimwear, and made a great impact on the Pulse judges as it won the emerging designer showcase. They range from trendy bikinis to sleek monokinis. The highlight of Beach Goddess’s collection was a stunning white and gold monokini with an A-line skirt attached, perfect for a night out on the beach.
*Another set of designs that brought out all things summer was Vain Glory by Jehan Jackson. These were personal favourites; resort wear with a bright array of colours. These designs were trendy and fashion forward, they included swimwear, jumpsuits, rompers and maxi dresses; who could ask for better?
* Designs by Franz Christie definitely did not disappoint as they made quite a statement on the runway. These designs have a more classier feel than a normal bikini and are ideal for a beach party or a night out with friends. Regardless of where, ‘Curves & Edges’ by Franz Christie is a sure hit.
* An important part of summer in every fashionistas life involves finding casually elegant dresses to beat the heat. These can be worn to family dinners, on dates or to take in a show. YESA! Designs by Cassey Daniels gave us this and so much more. A vibrant array of tropical colours fit for summer, these flowing dresses are specially hand painted and are all unique, adding to your unique nature.
* YC by James Black is the final set of designs that stood out and I am sure they will have an impact on you as well. These designs are bold and colourful, a must buy. With sleek cuts and bright prints, YC designs did not disappoint and should be on your summer shopping list.
So you see, there is proof to our statement for you young fashionistas. There is no need to fear, because CFW has brought the summer to the runway, and from the runway to you.
