Rash-on Fashion
We are in the midst of the world renowned Caribbean Fashion Week hosted by Kingsley Cooper and the Pulse family. This year’s series of events stretches from June 6 to 15, and attracts us young fashionistas (and older ones too). We all make it our point of duty to show up and look fabulous. But what to wear? What is the best oufit for a fashion show or any event of the sort?
For the past week I have been struggling with what to wear to the main shows this weekend, not out of a lack of ideas but rather a lack of money. If you can, however, spare the cash, here are a few ideas of how you can rock ‘Fashion Week’ or any fashionable event. Here’s your weekly dose of Rash-On Fashion.
* A jumpsuit will give a casually elegant and well put together look, quite perfect for CFW. Also known as playsuits, these will fit any body type and show your flirty side while still being covered up. Choose a colour of your liking, preferably one that matches your skin tone and pair with a pointy-toed heels and statement earrings.
*Scuba dresses are the updated version of skater dresses and are both a hit for such an occasion. Find a scuba/ skater dress that has a unique touch to it and rock with a pair of ankle strap sandals and they’ll be wanting you to the walk the runway instead. If the neckline of the dress is high, pair with a statement necklace for added flair.
*Another fashion forward outfit that is ready for Caribbean Fashion Week or any event of that matter is a body con dress. These have been quite fashionable for a while now and are in no rush to leave. Whether a short or midi body con dress, pair with a pointy-toed heels and you are good to go.
* Another gorgeous way to make a statement is with skirts, skirts have been quite a hit this spring and we having been loving every bit of it. These an either be maxi or midi skirts. Midis accentuate your gorgeous frame in the form of body con and the flared midis as well as maxis give a feminine glow and adds elegance. These skirts speak for themselves and would need a simple crop top and blazer.
*Free-flowing dresses are always a hit and will highlight your class while giving a feminine flair. These are mostly found in the chiffon material and are light and perfect for the summer. They can either be maxi dresses or the trendy shirt dresses that are both flirty and feminine, paired with strappy sandals these are perfect for viewing the runway.
There are many other trends that fit such an occasion including palazzo pants, culottes and printed rompers. The choice is simply yours. Whether it is fashion week or some other fashionable event, dress your best and make a statement wherever you go.
