Cari-Med get the blues as quarter-final hopes fade
CARI-MED’S hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the National Association of Domino Bodies (NABD) Kingston & St Andrew Region Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Business House League were shattered last Friday night when they lost 116-146 to Division Two champions National Commercial Bank (NCB) in round six of the competition.
Needing to win their match at home to keep their slim chance alive to advance to the next round, Cari-Med fell behind from the start and never recovered as their opponents cruised to victory and in the process booked their spot in the quarter-finals with one round of matches to go in the group stage.
Kingston Wharves maintained their perfect record as they brushed aside Seprod 119-105 to make it seven from seven.
In other games, Carib Cement were staggered 112-130 from the effects of J Wray & Nephew, JUTC blanked National Baking Company 123-107, and Gleaner defeated Bank Of Jamaica (BOJ) 125-114.
In Division Two, unbeaten Ministry Of Finance (MOF) were held to a 131-131 tie by Petrojam.
In other results, Nutrition Products got the better of Transport Authority 135-123; Digicel defeated Kris An Charles 124-112; Flow edged Pepsi-Cola Jamaica 156-155; National Housing Trust (NHT) got the better of Urban Development Corporation (UDC) 124-112; and Jamaica Observer sank Seaboard Jamaica 136-103.
Round eight takes place today with a full slate of matches in both divisions.
In Division One action today, J Wray & Nephew are at home to Kingston Wharves, Gleaner entertain Carib Cement, BOJ travel to Seprod at 228 Spanish Town Road, Campari host Carri-Med, and JUTC are away to NCB in Division One action.
National Baking Company will be the team out of action today.
In the lower division, MOF travel to Nutrition Products, Pepsi-Cola Jamaica host Transport Authority, Petrojam entertain Flow, NHT are away to Kris An Charles at 2 Eureka Crescent, UDC welcome Seaboard Jamaica, and Jamaica Observer host Digicel at 40-42 1/2 Beechwood Avenue.
