Rash-on Fashion
With the joys of summer fast approaching, all of us are seeking a summer job to fund our lavish lifestyles, or simply volunteering in order to graduate next June. In gaining these jobs we all have to dress our best, preferably for less. We are trying to save, not spend money after all.
As young fashionistas it is quite easy for us to go overboard in spending, as we all want to look elegant and professional.
There are, however, simple ways we can do this and still save from the sometimes meager stipend being offered by some organisations. Below are some tips on how to look your best in that summer internship by spending less. Here is your weekly dose of Rash-on Fashion.
• Invest in at least three pairs of cheap but stylish jackets. These may range from cardigans to blazers, even vests. Ensure that these jackets are bright coloured, a print blazer is always lovely. Wear these jackets every once in a while to show your trendy side.
• A piece of professional jewelry will add style and class to any outfit. Especially if this piece of jewelry is a string of pearls. An elegant pearl necklace may be a little pricey so it’s best to ‘borrow’ it from your mom’s jewelry box. However, it is always good to invest in pearls as they last for years and always adds class.
• Another tip is to search your closet for all the simple ‘church dresses’ you disregarded as too plain. Ensure these dresses are not revealing and are below the knees… dust them off and pair them with one of the aforementioned jackets and you are good to go. This ensemble does not only help you save money, but also makes use of clothes that have been laying waste in your closet.
• Ensure that you own at least two very similar black pencil skirts. These can be worn for days without any one noticing; until you start to smell of course. I am sure, however, all us young fashionistas value cleanliness as much as we value trendiness. Also, a midi pleated black skirt will make you look spectacular as well and should be a must have. This is, if it is affordable.
• Businesses and corporations all have rules on how employees are to dress. Open-toed shoes are always a no go. Invest in a simple pair of black shoes. Pointy-toed heels are a good example, as it is trendy yet simple and goes with every outfit. Never forget your trusty pair of flats as you are going to need it throughout the day.
We all want to look trendy while working this summer, but remember we are trying to save and not spend. Keep trendy with a few fashion hacks that will make you look classy and elegant.
