Timeka Marshall settles down
Settle Down is the new single from singer Timeka Marshall. Produced by DJ Xplicit, it is featured on the Love Breeze ‘riddim’.
Marshall, who has been doing music professionally for the past eight years, spoke about the song.
“The producer reached out to me and expressed an interest in having me voice on his project. He emailed the track and I immediately liked it so I decided that I would come on board,” said Marshall.
Marshall travels to Jamaica regularly. She has worked with producers including Tony Kelly, Christopher Birch, Kurt Riley, Donovan Germain and Craig ‘Leftside’ Parks.
In Guyana, she has been opening act on shows for Ashanti, Trey Songz, and Ne-Yo.
Some of her better known songs are All Night, which was produced by Stephen McGregor; Hush (produced by Shane Brown on the Indiscretions riddim); Feel Fah (featuring Busy Signal); Come Over (with Konshens); and Talk Dirty featuring Leftside.
Marshall says she was exposed to different sounds growing up.
“While some genres are most popular in some countries, in Guyana it’s a variety of music. I grew up listening to just about everything so my music and style of writing is a fusion of all that I love,” she said. “Just listen to few of my tracks and you’ll hear soca, dancehall, R&B, hip hop influences. What I bring as an artiste is a true multicultural and diverse representation of music within the Caribbean,” Marshall added.
