GET FIT, go green for a cause
THE Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) last week announced the second staging of WeCycle and the WeCycle Sealed Bid Auction on Sunday, June 7 to Sunday, June 14, 2015.
WeCycle is a week-long day fitness fund-raising event in aid of JET.
This year, 12 fitness organisations have partnered with JET to host WeCycle activities in Kingston and Ocho Rios, St Ann.
The organisations are Chai Studios, Core Fitness Studios, Football Factory, Fit Farm Fitness Club and Boot Camp, Gymkhana Ltd, Island Outpost, Jamaica Yoga Association, Spartan Health Club, True Self Centre of Being, True Form Fitness, We Got the Runs, and Pacers Running Group.
Over the course of the week, the partner organisations will host a range of fitness activities, including body sculpting, spinning, yoga, and Zumba classes, boot camps and running events. All activities are open to the public.
The requested contributions range from $500 to $2,000 depending on the event. All proceeds will be donated to the JET.
The first WeCycle event was held in June 2014 with seven organisations offering spinning, yoga and Zumba classes.
“This year we have more organisations on board and a wider range of fitness activities,” said Mirah Lim Todd, JET’s development consultant, “so there’s something for everyone and we encourage people to try new forms of exercise, all the while supporting a good cause.”
During the week of WeCycle, JET will also be hosting a sealed bid auction with prizes, including a weekend for two at Jakes Resort in Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth; a two-and-a-half hour “You’re Royal Massage” at Strawberry Hill Spa, one month gym membership to Gymkhana, three-month membership to Spartan, and more.
Starting on June 7 and ending on June 14 at noon, JET is inviting the public to e-mail bids for the items to jamentrustmembers@gmail.com. Proceeds from the auction will also be donated to JET.
