Rio Bueno on the hunt for second place in Trelawny Div 1 football
RIO BUENO, Trelawny — Rio Bueno FC could take over second place in the points table of the Trelawny Football Association National Rums Division One today if they can beat Granville FC in a rescheduled second-round game at Rio Bueno, starting at 3:30 pm.
Rio Bueno FC are in third place on 21 points, and are in a race with four other clubs to join leaders Bunkers Hill (30 points) in the semi-finals.
Granville are also in the contest for a semi-final place, but are in fifth place and must win today if they are to remain in contention. Rio Bueno, meanwhile, will be seeking back-to-back wins inside three days after a four-timer from Garfield Stewart took them to a 5-1 win over Martha Brae on Friday.
All six goals came in the final 20 minutes with Stewart scoring in the 70th, 84th, 85th and 87th minutes, and Kemar Hylton in the 80th. Nicholas Gilzene got one for Martha Brae in time added on.
Daniel Town beat Invaders SC 6-0 in their game to take over second place as Ronaldo Harris bagged a double for his team, which led 2-0 at half-time.
David Raymond in the eighth minute and Harris’ first-minute strike gave Daniel Town the lead at half-time before goals from Elan Hamilton (70th), Kemar Harris (72nd), and Derrick Kerr, who struck two minutes into stoppage time, also scored.
Also on Friday, Bunkers Hill edged Granville 1-0 thanks to Tajae Moore’s goal scored in time added. In another game, Jackson Town beat Fire 3-1.
