Facelift on for Ranny Williams centre
THE Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) is continuing its beautification and improvement of the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew on Labour Day, Monday, May 25.
The objective is to enhance the space used by hundreds of children, who participate in the various cultural programmes held at the complex, which include the iconic Louise Bennett Garden Theatre.
The scope of work will include improvement of landscape, painting of the premises, tree and flower planting, and the painting of the parking lot and curve walls.
Pamela Redwood, chair of the Ranny Williams Re-development Committee and JCDC board member, said her organisation expresses sincere appreciation to the organisations which volunteered in the Labour Day project in 2014, and which are back on board.
The Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre hosts many of the cultural events of the JCDC and other important events organised by the Government and other private interests.
The JCDC staff, along with volunteers from the Kiwanis Clubs of North St Andrew and Liguanea, National Youth Service and the Jamaica National Foundation, will embark on the well-needed exercise on Labour Day, which is being celebrated under the theme, ‘Labour of Love…Nurturing Our Children’.
