MoBay crush Waterhouse to book final berth
CATHERINE HALL, St James –Montego Bay United are back in the final of the Red Stripe Premier League after battering Waterhouse 5-1 in last night’s return-leg semi-final match-up at the Montego Bay Sports Complex for a massive 8-2 aggregate.
Dino Williams scored twice for Montego Bay United, who were cheered on by a crowd that spilled over from the grandstand and into the bleachers which had to be opened after the game started.
Allan Ottey, Lesley St Fluer and Owayne Gordon also scored for MBU, while Jermaine Anderson got Waterhouse’s goal.
It was yet another ruthless display for the Montego Bay United team, who had beaten Waterhouse 5-2 in last season’s final, as they advanced to the final where they will play the winner of tonight’s second semi-final between Arnett Gardens and Humble Lion.
Waterhouse finished the game with 10 players after defender Rohan Amos was sent off after getting a second yellow card in the 58th minute. He got the first yellow on the 32nd minute when he gave up a penalty kick.
Williams and Ottey, who got the first two goals in Monday’s first-leg in Kingston, were up to their tricks again last night scoring in a five-minute period in the first half to take the game further away from Waterhouse.
Williams sent Ottey through in the 28th minute and the speedy forward finished off by beating goalkeeper Richard McCallum from close range.
Williams then headed home the second goal in the 32nd minute, before Lesly St Fluer converted from the penalty spot in the 44th minute after Amos fouled Williams in the box.
Jermaine Anderson got Waterhouse on the scoresheet when he got a ball just over the head of goalkeeper Jacomeno Barrett in the 45th minute.
Yet another mistake in the Waterhouse defence led to Williams’ second of the game and MBU’s fourth in the 53rd minute.
Gordon, who missed the first goal, bullied his way past three defenders in time added on to score his team’s fifth.
