Bee-nutritious meals
DWAYMIAN Brissette, Wayne Hylton, Donna-Marie Phipps, and Carol Jean Haslam will this week don their aprons and head to the kitchen to prepare delicious, healthy meals as part of the 10-week Seven Seas Wellness Challenge, which is in association with the Heart Foundation of Jamaica.
Not only will they prepare meals that are specific to their dietary needs but through their efforts, the audience will be educated on the importance of portion control.
At the beginning of the challenge, the participants were presented with Bumble Bee tuna and sardines, which are packed with essential nutrients for a healthy diet and that are MSG and gluten free, to aid their wellness journey.
Nutrition is an important aspect of any wellness journey and with heart disease still being the leading cause of mortality in Jamaica – with one in four people affected and 50 per cent unaware – the products the participants will use are excellent sources of Omega-3 fatty acids, which help to reduce the risk heart disease and stroke.

Sardine Egg Scramble
Ingredients
1 can Bumble Bee Sardines in oil or water (106g)
2 whole eggs or 3 egg whites
Salt and black pepper to taste
Butter or oil for cooking
Optional ingredients
Cooked calalloo
Cheese
Diced vegetables: tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and/or celery
Minced fresh herbs: cilantro, parsley, escallion
Chicken and Vegetable Stir Fry
Ingredients
1 can Bumble Bee Premium Chicken Breast (284g) in water
2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp ginger minced
1/2 tsp garlic minced
2 cups pak choi chopped
1 cup cabbage chopped
1 carrot thinly sliced
1/2 each yellow and red bell peppers diced
2 tsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp escallion
Tuna and Quinoa Salad with Avocado
Ingredients
1 can Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in water (142g)
1 cup quinoa, rinsed well
2 cups boiling water
4 tomatoes diced
1 small cucumber diced
1/2 small purple onion sliced
1 red bell pepper diced
1 green bell pepper diced
1/2 cup finely chopped parsley
1 avocado doced
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Salmon Cakes
Ingredients
1 can Bumble Bee Pink Salmon (418g), drained
1/2 cup bread crumbs (optional)
2 large eggs, beaten (or 2 egg whites)
2 tsp garlic powder or minced garlic
1/2 bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
1/2 tsp thyme leaves
1/2 cup chopped escallion
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 lemon, zested and juiced
Salt and pepper to taste
Salad greens
Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
