Rash-on Fashion
Marilyn Monroe once said, “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world”. This is true, as the right pair of shoes may give you the confidence to nail that job interview, or simply say ‘hi’ to that guy you like.
But which style of shoes is right for which occasion? Sometimes we confuse the setting with the pair of shoes, and conquering the world is put on hold. Sort of like when we wear boots to weddings and strappy stilettos to the beach. Don’t get me wrong, fashion is all about taking chances and being unique; but just as there is a universal rule against plaid and stripes, there are guidelines for shoes as well. Flip flops to the funeral of a loved one, or six-inch heels for a day out on the town is neither fashionable nor cute, but we have all seen it before.
Below are some guidelines on making a fashion statement in your shoe of choice this summer. Here’s your weekly dose of Rash-on Fashion:
Wedge-heel sandals
These are quite versatile and may be the only shoe that can be both casual and formal. Wedge-heel sandals can be worn just about anywhere; from a romantic stroll with your boyfriend to shopping with your mom. It can even be worn in a business-like setting, helping you to nail that upcoming internship.
Stilettos
A gorgeous pair of heels will make any girl feel confident and while some teens wear them every day, us ‘regular people’ reserve them for a party, a night out with your girlfriends or just about any formal setting – whether a wedding or a funeral. If too flashy, however, it may be wrong for that summer job interview, so you may tone it down with a simple monochromatic pair of pumps.
Flats
Just about any and everybody can rock flats, and for the summer these are an essential part of your wardrobe. Flats can work for summer school, going shopping, for a stroll in the park or to go watch that movie you have been waiting to see. Wearing flats to your graduation ball, however, is not cute.
Sneakers
Sneakers and how you wear them are based on personality. Some girls prefer sneakers to a strappy sandal and will wear them more often; however, every girl should have a pair in her closet. Most will reserve sneakers for hitting the gym to lose a few extra pounds, or to run that 5k that’s on their bucket list.
Strappy Sandals
Strappy sandals and flats have a similar role; they are both quite versatile and can be for everyday use. Strappy sandals, however, add class. They are more feminine and add flair to an outfit. These can be worn out on a hot date, to a fashion show, a concert or simply shopping with friends.
Fashion is constantly changing and everybody’s style is unique. You can dare to be different, set your own trend, but boots at a wedding is not a look anyone should go for.
