Promoting awareness about endometriosis
Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller (second right) accepts a promotional pin from Shauna Fuller-Clarke (second Left), executive director, Better Awareness and Support for Endometriosis, during a courtesy call at Jamaica House on Wednesday. Also participating in the courtesy call are Health Minister Fenton Ferguson (right) and Ricardo Clarke (left), executive director, Better Awareness and Support for Endometriosis. Both Shauna Fuller-Clarke and Ricardo Clarke started the Better Awareness and Support for Endometriosis Foundation in 2013 to raise awareness about endometriosis in Jamaica. Endometriosis is a chronic painful disorder that affects women during their reproductive years and at the most productive time of their lives. There is no cure for endometriosis, but effective management of the symptoms is possible by medication and/or surgical excision of the endometriotic deposits.
