The Proof Is In The Pudding
Our overture to share ‘sweet temptations’ in the fourth week of the Digicel/Jamaica Observer #FAinstafare Instagram competition reaped sweet rewards for Christopher Sinclair-McCalla — a pair of tickets to this year’s Observer Table Talk Food Awards set to take place on Thursday, May 28 at Devon House.
McCalla, a graduate of the University of Technology’s Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, was chosen the winner of last week’s dessert-focused smartphone photo challenge.
A cornmeal pudding with coffee rum sauce garnished with black mint and coconut slices taken by Sinclair-McCalla using a Samsung Galaxy S3 was adjudged the best, based on the texture, style, colour and positioning.
The judging session — with the three-man panel of photographer Peter Ferguson; watercolour artist and advertising guru Patrick Waldemar; and Digicel marketing director Peter Lloyd — pored over 106 dessert photo submissions for an early lunch conference at F&B DownTown Café on Tuesday afternoon, before they unanimously agreed on Sinclair-McCalla’s entry.
Weekly winners of the #FAinstafare competition receive two Food Awards tickets and qualify for the grand prize of a Digicel Samsung Galaxy S6 and the official Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards #FAinstafare plaque.
It’s two weeks until the 2015 Food Awards and here’s your chance to celebrate The Rock’s biggest culinary night with us. We want to ‘Taste Jamaica’ and invite you to submit your best Jamaican-themed photo on the #FAinstare Instagram by Monday, May 18.
