China
May 4, 2015 marked the most fashionable night of the year, as the 69th staging of the Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The event was hosted by fashion icon, and the editor-in-chief of Vogue – Anna Wintour. The theme of the event was “China: Through the Looking Glass” and was eagerly attended by the most fashionable and influential individuals in the entertainment and fashion industry. Everyone who was anyone was there to walk one of the most coveted red carpet events of the year.
Here are some of our stand-outs from the event:
Actress/singer/dancer Zendaya Coleman turned heads in a custom Fausto Puglisi dress. The budding
rocked the structured red and black sun-print ensemble, and definitely brought the heat.

Also following the black and red trend was television icon and
Sarah Jessica Parker. She made quite the statement in a black, high slit dress that she designed herself in collaboration with design house H&M. She paired with a red Philip Treacy headdress, but some say that perhaps she should just have let H&M do most of the work, as she might have taken the theme a little too far.

Moving from the battle of
to the war of flesh, reality star Kim Kardashian West arrived in a revealing, sheer, illusion white Roberto Cavalli gown. The body-hugging outfit showed off her famous curves and lawless skin, but Mrs Kanye West soon came under fire when it was discovered that a certain Mrs Carter (aka Beyonce) wore a similar Roberto Cavalli to the same event only two years earlier, only in black.

Speaking of ‘Queen Bey’, the multi-Grammy-winning artiste caused quite the stir wearing the most revealing
of the night. The R&B singer arrived an hour and a half late in a super sheer Givenchy haute coutur gown, designed by Riccardo Tisci and bejeweled with Lorraine Schwartz rhinestones. She completely shut down the carpet being the last one to walk it, but questions were raised as to whether or not the dress was appropriate to be worn by the wife and mother… you decide.

Having said all that, the red carpet must have a winner and this singer and
blew away the competition proving that sometimes more is MORE! Rihanna was definitely the best dressed attendant at the Met Gala. She took the theme, ran with it and didn’t look back, arriving in a canary yellow gown designed by Guo Pei. The hand-made 55 kg gown took two years to make, and she had four assistants moving the train of the gown as she ascended the step of the museum. The one-of-a-kind outfit, including the custom-made head piece, solidified Rhi-Rhi’s fashion status, and is considered by the entire fashion industry to be couture at its finest.
