Digicel zeroes in on Mayweather-Pacquiao super fight
WHILE boxing fans are scrambling to secure highly priced tickets to watch the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao super fight, over 3,000 Digicel customers will be paying nothing to watch it from their smartphone or from home.
“Digicel SportsMax is the only cable channel in Jamaica with the rights to show the match live, so we are happy to be able to give our customers exclusive access to this content that they can watch live,” said Peter Lloyd, marketing director for Digicel.
To secure a free live stream code customers simply need to activate the Digicel Zero plan for $350, take a screenshot of their confirmation message, and upload it to the app on the company’s Facebook page. The first 1,500 customers to do so will win an access code to watch the fight.
Meanwhile, an additional 1,500 postpaid and prepaid customers will receive a special call from Digicel with their free code to watch the fight.
“As a full service communications and entertainment provider, we’re leading the way when it comes to giving our customers the content they love on their mobile devices. This Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is perfect example of this — but only the tip of the iceberg, there’s so much more to come,” continued Lloyd.
Customers also have the option of paying US$10 to stream the match via Digicel SportsMax, an incredible 90 per cent discount on the pay-per-view price.
Digicel Sportsmax will also be hosting a viewing party at the Chinese Benevolent Association starting at 7:00 pm. Customers will be treated to all the trappings of a Vegas-styled fight night. In addition to the main fare, entertainment will also be provided by the likes of Miss Kitty, with music provided by veteran sound system Stone Love.
