Waterhouse FC are bracing for a third hold on the Red Stripe Premier League crown.
This objective was voiced by the club’s leading goalscorer Jermaine ‘Tuffy’ Anderson after Waterhouse drubbed Boys’ Town 5-1 at Drewsland on Sunday in the clubs’ penultimate game before the quest for serious title honours commence with the semi-final rounds.
According to Anderson, this latest performance was a result of a meeting between the Waterhouse management and players where “we took a decision to put this CONCACAF thing behind us, come to training and enjoy ourselves scoring goals when we go on the field of play”.
The powerful striker added that the aim right now for Waterhouse was to get into the final.
Looking well rested and eager to perform, Waterhouse came at Boys’ Town all fired up, so much so within eight minutes of the kick-off, Anderson put them in front from a crisp right-footed shot from a tight angle that goalkeeper Leon Goff failed to shut out.
Romario Campbell, who was having a decent game, increased the lead with deft left-footed free kick from some 20 metres out 14 minutes from the break.
Still, Boys’ Town were competitive in a manner that could see them coming into their own as the fire in their legs and tenacity kept them in the play with a purpose. This eventually paid off.
Peter Keys, who was always keen in attack, flew through the air to head past Richard McCallum two minutes before the interval to reduce the deficit at the break.
On the resumption, it was a roller-coaster ride for the homesters who ran out the eventual 5-1 winners.
