Harbour View stay in the hunt
Ranique Muir’s second-half strike kept alive Harbour View FC’s hopes of making the semi-finals after their 1-0 win over Tivoli Gardens FC at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium yesterday. With the win fifth-placed Harbour View moved to 49 points from 32 games, just a point behind fourth-placed Humble Lion FC, who drew 2-2 with title holders Montego Bay United (53 points) at the WesPow Park in St James. That result formalised third-placed Montego Bay’s progress to the semis.
Montego Bay (53 points) join preliminary stage champions Arnett Gardens (66 points) and second-placed Waterhouse (57 points), leaving Humble Lion and Harbour View to scrap for the fourth and final spot.
Tivoli Gardens, in sixth place on 44 points, no longer have a chance of advancing.
The final match day of the preliminary-phase is scheduled for next Sunday. Humble Lion will host seventh-placed Cavalier SC (43 points) at the Effortville Community Centre, while Harbour View travel to the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex to face Arnett.
