JMMB team members donate blood
JMMB Group team members from its Corporate Area branches, head office and Portmore branch participated in the second annual blood drive organised by the company on April 17 at its head office.
Scores of team members supported the event, which was organised to assist in increasing the supply of blood available through the National Blood Transfusion Service, also known as the Blood Bank.
Simone Dunbar, Human Resource Administration manager, JMMB Group, notes that “the second staging of the event is a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts.
“In keeping with this, JMMB responded to the call from the Blood Bank to increase voluntary blood donation and for greater involvement of corporate entities in the effort of saving the lives through blood donation,” she said.
National Blood Transfusion Service Blood Donor Organiser Igol Allen said, “Having a safe and adequate blood supply is an integral part of providing quality health care in making blood accessible to persons in need.”
Allen also commended the JMMB team for its strong partnership and commitment to being ongoing voluntary donors.
Tonianne Rankine, repeat blood donor and the first team member on spot to participate in the blood drive, shared that she was motivated to participate, “because it is such as a good feeling to give to others, knowing you are making a difference in someone’s life.”
Encouraging others to give, the six-time donor Rankine notes, “The process is fairly simple and not painful, though mildly uncomfortable, but the reward of giving is invaluable.”
Other JMMB team members outside of the Corporate Area and Portmore are expected to also participate in the blood donation process by making their donation at the various blood donation sites across Jamaica.
