SERHA mourns death of Burmese doctor
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) is mourning the loss of Dr Thein Zaw who died in a car crash on Tuesday.
Dr Andrei Cooke, SERHA Board Chairman, said Dr Zaw was a medical officer who began working at the Spanish Town Hospital in 2009. He was later assigned to the St Catherine Health Services, where he worked in primary care up to the time of his death.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We would like to offer our sincerest condolence to Dr Zaw’s family and the SERHA family will keep them in our prayers in their time of grief,” he said.
“We are grateful for the contribution he has made to the public health sector. May his soul rest in peace,” Cooke added.
Police reports are that Dr Zaw drove out of a tyre shop on West Henderson Boulevard in Portmore, St Catherine, and collided with a Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
