Robin’s Prime Steakhouse
Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards judge for the parish of St James Dr Claudine Lewis starts the much-anticipated countdown to her culinary gems.
A relatively new kid on the block in Montego Bay. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the Altamont West Hotel, taking over the spot that housed “Wine With Me”.
With huge culinary and style shoes to fill, Robin’s Prime is etching its mark on the dining scene for both locals and visitors alike. The restaurant offers in-house dining to hotel guests, as well as locals who drop in.
I’ve had various meal options at the restaurant, my favourite is their New York strip loin steak — medium. It is juicy and tender and full of natural flavour and pairs well with a good Shiraz.
Aside from their signature steak, they offer a wide range of menu options including local breakfast fare, sliders, burgers and pork chops. The service can be a bit slow, but the wait staff is professional and attentive.
The restaurant itself has a cosmopolitan charm with exposed brick wall, and a nice view to the pool deck with lush tropical plants and water feature. The banquets are comfy and cosy and seat a large party.
Breakfast portions are a bit small, even for me… but the meals are tasty and the service is great.
