The Humble Lion Wolfe cops CHEC Starballer for February
VETERAN Wolry Wolfe was joint top nominee for the month with two nominations, playing in three of the four Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) matches for his team in the month of February.
The 33-year-old predominantly left-sided midfielder is clearly holding his own and has been very influential in his team’s performance. Although having just the one goal for the month, he has been a standout performer for his team’s attack by creating goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates and just as solid defensively.
As a result of his strong performances, Humble Lion Football Club continued its progress up the points table, moving up from fifth place to fourth (the final play-off spot). Of the three games he was involved in, his team gained the maximum nine points.
Wolfe is described by his club as a no-nonsense footballer, who is a team player and a person who enjoys nothing less than seeing his team win matches. He is also seen as “a shining example of what a leading player should be to the younger talent seeking to achieve”.
His disciplinary record for the month was unblemished. His presence in the squad and his recognition through his nominations by his coach confirmed just how invaluable his experienced head is to his team and to their remaining in the play-offs position.
The CHEC Starballer of the Month for the 2014-2015 RSPL is chosen based on the criteria set out below with the player being selected by his respective coach each match for the month in combination with the secretariat’s record:
