Sean Morris takes Easter Jamboree
The season opener of the Jamaica Golf Association — the Jewel Easter Jamboree — teed off during the Easter weekend at the Runaway Bay Golf Club, which is operated by Jewel Resorts.
Sean Morris took the overall winner’s trophy in fine style with rounds of 78 and 75 (153). Sandals-based Brian Bailey captured first place and Sean Green was second in the category. Both men had the same score (156), but Bailey had the better back nine on the final day. Keith Stein was third with 157.
Carl Bruce emerged at the top of the 7-11 category with 161 strokes, followed by Delroy Johnson with 164. Richard White finished third with 172.
In the Men Super Senior competition, Easton Williams and Sherold Philibert both finished with 167. After a play-off, Easton Williams took the winner’s trophy. Dennis Atkinson was third with 168.
Michele Gabay captured the ladies’ category with 169, followed by Crystal Gayle on 176 and Sherisse Walker with 180.
Jack Stein took the boys’ 14-15 category with 173 and Sebert Walker was next with 177.
Cedric Blair, Red Stripe’s chief executive, had his best-ever score of 76 on the first day of the tournament. Blair topped the Stableford event in the 13-18 category. Stanley Grant ruled the 18-24 group and in the ladies, Murine Blair walked away with the top prize.
Edgar Wiggins won the one-day segment of the Stableford competition with 36 points.
