The Contender series continues with Brooks vs Bowen
TWO relatively inexperienced boxers, Duke Brooks representing the Yellow Team (Team Caribbean) and Jermaine Bowen representing the Green Team (Team Jamaica), will trade punches in the third of eight fights in the preliminary round of the fifth renewal of the Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Contender boxing series at the Chinese Benevolent Association Auditorium tonight.
Today’s entertainment begins at 8:30 pm with the main event between Bowen and Brooks set for approximately 9:30 pm.
Bowen, 24 years old, has a boxing record of one win, one loss and stands at 5’11”. Brooks, the Trinidad and Tobago native, will be making his professional debut in the Wray & Nephew Contender series and is also 24 years of age. At six feet, he is marginally taller than Bowen, but both boxers weighed in at 160 pounds.
Both boxers went through their paces satisfactorily for their trainers Andrew Boland, coach of Team Caribbean, and Carl Grant, coach of Team Jamaica. And without saying much, both trainers are expecting a good showing from their boxers and will comment on their performances at the end of the fight.
