Tennis for kids shaping next generation of players
THE Guardian Life Open Junior Tennis Series has maintained a high level of participation over the years as the players look forward to the camaraderie and the opportunity to further develop their skills on court.
Through their tag line “Looking After Life” they continue to believe in this venture and, to a greater extent, the participants in these tournaments.
According to Juven Montague-Anderson, integrated marketing communications manager at Guardian Life, the company is part of a large financial group with a successful history, and they believe it is their duty to give back to the community.
“This tennis series is directly aligned with our corporate social responsibility which promotes physical activity and outdoor sports. We are also elated as we believe tennis is a great traditional sport that should be promoted among the youth,” Montague-Anderson.
To the players, Montague-Anderson encouraged them to continue to perform well on and off the court. “In everything that you do, do it well with passion, know your purpose, and always be able to hold your head high knowing that you did everything you could. People will notice as you stand out,” she said.
The 15th staging of the annual Guardian Life Open Junior Tennis Series officially serves off on Saturday at the Liguanea Club, St Andrew, starting at 9:00 am and will end on Sunday.
Tournament Director Llockett McGregor said it is a rewarding feeling each year to see the players competing on the court. “Some of these players we have seen over the years and they have matured, not only in their approach to the game, but also in their own personal development,” McGregor said.
“Each year we ensure that the quality of the tournament is maintained and the players do not disappoint us. They continue to strive for excellence and improve on their skills,” he added.
