Jamaica Under-17 Boyz lead USA 1-0 in CONCACAF match
SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras – Jamaica’s Under-17 footballers were leading the United States of America (USA ) 1-0 after 65 minutes, thanks to a 57th minute penalty by Nicholas Nelson in their Group A CONCACAF Under-17 Championship match, now under way at the Estadio Francisco Morazan in Honduras.
Jamaica need to beat the USA and hope that Honduras fail to beat Guatemala in order to automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
The Americans lead the group with 10 points, two ahead of second-placed Honduras on eight points, and Jamaica third with seven points.
All three countries are fighting to avoid the play-offs and secure that one automatic spot provided for the group winner.
